3 Ingredient Bagels
Updated: Dec 16, 2020
Hi everyone! Over quarantine, I have tried a lot of new recipes. This bagel recipe was one of my favorites. You only need three ingredients, but it is easily customizable. I hope you enjoy theses as much as I do!
Ingredients
1 cup plain, thick greek yogurt (If there is liquid on top of the yogurt, drain it out)
1 cup self rising flour (If you do not have self rising flour, mix 1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder, and 1/4 tsp salt before mixing with the yogurt)
OPTIONAL TOPPINGS: one egg (beaten), sea salt, cheese, everything bagel seasoning
*You can also mix in ingredients into the dough such as raisins and blueberries.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silione baking mat. I have also used a donut baking sheet and sprayed it with cooking spray.
Combine the yogurt and flour and mix until dough forms into a ball.
Lightly flour a cutting board and knead the dough for 30 seconds. My dough tends to be pretty sticky, so I also put flour on my hands before kneading the dough.
Cut the dough into equal parts. I did five, but yours may be different depending on the size you want your bagels to be.
Roll each dough piece into a ball, lightly flour your finger, and poke a hole in the center of the dough. Gently stretch the hole to be about a 1" wide opening, and shape the dough into a bagel shape.
Place the bagels on the baking sheet. They should be far enough apart to give them room to rise. OPTIONAL: Brush the beaten egg on the top of the bagels, and add any other toppings you prefer.
Bake for 25-30 minutes. Rotate the sheet pan halfway through cooking.
After 25-30 minutes, the bagels should be lightly browned. Increase the oven to 450 degrees F and bake for another 4-5 minutes or until the bagels are golden.
