Avocados are the newest craze. From the go-to ingredient for guacamole to the newest addition of literally any salad or smoothie, it is everyone's favorite source of "good" fat (I'll talk about this later on in the article). But what exactly makes this fruit a super food?
It's super nutritious - Avocados are low in sugar and offer around 20 vitamins and minerals such as potassium and Vitamins B, C, and E in each serving. They contain fiber and natural chemicals that can help prevent cancer.
It contains monounsaturated fat - Avocados are known to be high in monounsaturated fat. Monounsaturated fat is considered to be a "good" fat. It lowers bad cholesterol, which is AWESOME but can also lower good cholesterol, which is not that awesome. Even though monounsaturated fat is great for you, it is still fat and it will still look like fat if you do not use it properly (aka if you don't exercise).
OVERALL: Yes, avocados are amazing. Yes, they are healthy for you. And yes, like everything else, you should eat them in moderation.
