Chia seeds are one of the healthiest foods out there. It's so nutritious and there are countless benefits to them.

Chia seeds have a very little amount of calories with A LOT of nutrients. According to Healthline, 100 grams of chia seeds contains:

  • Calories: 486

  • Fiber: 34.4 grams

  • Protein: 16.5 grams

  • Carbs: 42.1 grams

  • Sugar: 0 grams

  • Fat: 30.7 grams (3.33 Saturated; 2.31 Monounsaturated; 23.67 Polyunsaturated; 0.14 Trans; 17.83 Omega-3; 5.84 Omega-6)

  • Decent amounts of zinc, potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, and phosphorus

Chia seeds are also non-GMO and gluten-free


Antioxidants and Omega-3

Chia seeds are loaded with antioxidants that fight the production of free radicals, which can damage cell molecules, contribute to aging, and increase the risk of diseases like cancer. They also contain good amounts of Omega-3. In fact, they contain more Omega-3 than most other foods, including salmon. Omega-3 are essential since your body cannot make them. It's important for brain function and reduces inflammation.


Fiber, Protein and Blood Sugar

Chia seeds have a lot of protein, and most of the carbs in chia seeds are fiber. Fiber has many health benefits and can absorb 10–12 times their weight in water. In addition, protein and fiber both help weight loss. Chia seeds can also lower high blood sugar, which helps type 2 diabetes.
